Ivan Jenson - Two Poems

Rise and shine

I woke up
this morning
and I was
not Kafka’s cockroach
nor was
I waking from
a soap opera coma
I had not been
sleeping as long
as Rip Van Winkle
and I was not as big
as Gulliver
and I had not
stolen my
identity from
someone else's
credit card
in fact
it was just
me all over again
ready to walk
some more miles
in my own
and not Mister Roger’s shoes

Online lament

Nothing
boggles
Googles
mind
all it does is
give and give
information
to anyone
who searches
and
when my
computer
goes to
sleep
it stays up
answering
the insomniacs
brainiacs
sociopaths
and all
who seek
facts
or fiction
swinging
from mind
to mind
on
Amazon
so go ahead
and connect
the dot coms
but if you
search for yourself
in this virtual world
don’t forget
it doesn’t matter
what they say
about you
as long as
they get your link right
