Julie Gates - One Poem

You hang on my collar bones,
a man-sized fetus, craving my warmth.

You cannot enter—
love is forbidden

here in this nunnery
where you blasphemed.

Dr. Julie Gates is an associate professor of English in the Department of English and Modern Languages at Angelo State University, where she has directed the Secondary English Education Program for the last 11 years. She is a new poet and has one upcoming publication in the Concho River Review and several other poems pending with other journals.
