Christopher Barnes - Two Poems

Prom Night

So long as photons
Illuminate the eye
We’re madcap and gazeless
At the deliverance of optic concussion.

An electrocuted cageling
Everyman or ogre
Trickling red-handed snot
On an unblamable shirt.

Joan Rivers

Rib-ticklers are concussion bombs
In your execution, and edgy time since
You riddled make-up into laughter lines.
A schnozzle like yours
Is retraced by scalpels.

Those audacious Ps and Qs, snapping inputs,
Babel and explicit camp note
Striking terror into skullcaps
Of Borsch Belt men.

Pricedrop gold, animal rights,
Prowess with scripts (fuck!)
B.A. in Eng. Lit.,
Feverishly side-splitting,
The sourest apple in Brooklyn.
