Stephanie M. Wytovich - One Poem

Anniversary

I gave up crying a long time ago
All it did was make me thirsty
And it never fazed you anyways
So why ruin my makeup

I gave up trying a long time ago
All it did was wear me out
I threw away the lingerie
And my matching stilettos
They accumulated too much dust

I gave up caring a long time ago
All it did was make me tired
Sleeping till mid-afternoon
Wearing your t-shirt

I gave up loving you a long time ago
All it did was break my heart
Leaving me to the comfort of my sleeping pills
And a hangover with my coffee

Stephanie M. Wytovich is a senior at Seton Hill University where she is a double major in English Literature and Art History. 1. Sad to read a poem like this from a woman chronologically so young.
