John Swain - One Poem

Sinews Clinging

Chrysalis like a glass tomb rises
lit by sinews clinging
to bones and hair locks and nails.
I withdraw my defenses
against this changing
gently seeping over me like skin.
Drink from me, friend,
like I once drank
from your arms like vines.
We cannot escape escaping,
painted windows open the houses
we will always live in.

John Swain lives in Louisville, Kentucky. His chapbooks, Prominences and Sinking of the Cloth, appeared from Flutter Press and Set Apart Before the World Was Made appeared from Calliope Nerve Media. Full of Crow published his e-book, The Feathered Masks.
