Steve Kissing - Two Poems

PART NERS

In the movie theater,
a couple in their 60’s
takes their seats,
leaving two empty ones
between them--

roughly the same
distance between
their two living room
recliners and their
two single beds.

DAUGHTER’S FIRST DATE

He’s all blinks
and sweaty hands.
She’s all hair flips
and door-ward glances.
I’m all shifts and sways:
The land where fathers
rule and the land where
we don’t
separating
like tectonic plates
under my feet.

Steve Kissing’s poems have appeared in several dozen print and online journals. His first chapbook, SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST (Big Table Publishing), was published last fall. There’s more on Steve at http://www.stevekissing.com.
