Dr. Ehud Sela - One Poem

The Life You Couldn't Give Me

The life you couldn’t give me
is the life of silent contemplation
at the ray of sun
sliding on the floor
at shifting angles
framing our lives
into states of geometric ambiguity
where the two of us alone
know the angles
of the life we formed.

—Then you would have walked
into the room,
moved your hair back
just behind your ear
with your painted nails
maroon
like our shifting moods.—
